The company licensed AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames process.

The ASUS ROG Ally handheld console was introduced in the spring of last year, which has already received several software updates, but now a version supporting an important innovation has arrived, which enables AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames technology.

The mentioned function became generally available in AMD Software 24.1.1, but ASUS recommends its own device driver for its handheld console. By the way, the latter is not really different from AMD’s solution, only some parameters are tailored to the specific needs of the product, and the testing is also carried out according to the nature of the system.

For ROG Ally, Fluid Motion Frames is useful because it offers a 120Hz display, which is not necessarily usable in more modern games due to the performance provided by the built-in hardware. However, with the image generation technique that can be activated at the level of the driver program, the options are significantly expanded, so the display of the handheld console, which enables a higher refresh rate, becomes more useful.
