On May 14, Erangel Classic will arrive as part of Update 29.2, which will replace the current version of the track for two weeks, IGN reported. The goal of the developers is to awaken nostalgia in the players, so the “innovation” will come with original graphics and many original mechanics.

According to Krafton’s statement, certain elements from the current gameplay will remain, however, for example, weapons placed on benches will return, and many weapons will regain their original recoil. The aid package will also include the Tommy Gun again, like in the good old days. Erangel Classic will be available from May 14th to 28th on PC and from May 23rd to June 6th on console. For that time, it will replace the current version of the track.

PUBG was released in 2017 and very quickly gained serious popularity. It quickly became one of the most defining battle royales and, according to SteamDB statistics, it has held the record for the number of simultaneous players for six years. Since then, no game has come close to more than 3 million online players.

Although at the moment there are “only” around half a million active players, Krafton is still actively involved in the development of the game, and at the beginning of March, this year’s roadmap.
