The latest panel of Koreans gives us an important decision.

As the world’s leading display manufacturer, LG Display not only manufactures panels for monitors and televisions sold under its own brand name, but also supplies many partners worldwide, so the technological developments of the South Korean manufacturer can be reflected in a series of subsequent products.

Therefore, the company’s latest solution, Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR), characterized by the company as the world’s first, can spark a small revolution in the display market for gamers, putting a decision in the hands of users that they could only dream of until now.

The latest OLED display developed by LG allows us to choose between a high image refresh rate, which is mainly useful in competitive games, and a high resolution that takes the visuals to the top. If you prefer image refresh, you can squeeze up to 480 Hz from the panel with Full HD resolution, and if you focus on the visuals, you can enjoy the contents in UHD resolution and with 240 Hz image refresh.

As LG writes, traditional panels work with a fixed resolution, even if the image refresh rate can be varied. The advantage of DFR is that by lowering the resolution, we can achieve a higher than average image refresh rate. In addition to free selection of operating modes, the LG panel with a response time of 0.3 ms also supports solutions such as META Technology 2.0, which increases brightness, and Thin Actuator Sound, which generates sound directly with the display.

Based on the official announcement, LG sent the revolutionary panel into production in the 31.5-inch size, which the public could already see live in the 32GS95UE monitor exhibited at the CES 2024 conference in January. According to the Koreans’ plan, the new OLED display will first appear in the products of LG Electronics, and later it will return in the production of other “global gaming brands”. Among the external monitors coming in the future, LG has now specifically mentioned only the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP.
