Ubisoft unveiled the upcoming new one in September 2022 Assassin’s Creed projects. Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage after, the next two big games are already Assassin’s Creed Infinity comes from the French game developer within the framework of a common platform called One is being worked on by the Ubisoft Québec team Assassin’s Creed Codename Red which will be an open-world samurai adventure in an action-RPG style and is expected to arrive in the fall of 2024. The other is a much more mysterious project, on which the main team of the series, Ubisoft Montréal, is working Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe work address. At the time, we only got a taster preview of the game, but now new details have leaked out.

Marc-Alexis Côté, the vice president and executive producer of the franchise, only revealed that in 2022 there will be a completely new game in the series, a break with the previous role-playing style and it will be about witch hunts in the German-Roman Empire of the 16th century. The producer described the project to IGN as follows:

What I can confirm is that a [Hexe] not an RPG. When I say it’s a different type of game, I want people to go beyond the expectations of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. They’re all iterations of our RPG design, aren’t they? But Hexe and Red are on different paths. I think this Infinity approach allows us to provide different experiences at different sizes. Not everything has to be a 150 hour RPG, right? To bring more variety to the locations we visit and the way we depict these periods.

Thanks to Insider Gaming, more details about this project have now come to light. Insider Tom Henderson provided information about the early version of the game in his April 23rd article. Henderson looked into internal materials, according to which the main character of the game will be a woman named Elsa, who will be chased by 16th century German soldiers. The woman will have supernatural abilities with which she can also influence cats. In this case, the player can also control the cats to distract the enemy. Based on footage provided to Insider Gaming, the new Assassin’s Creed game will feature a dark and gloomy period urban setting. According to the article, Codename Hexe will also get a fear system, something like that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate game for Jack The Ripper DLC. The gameplay is therefore based more seriously on the special abilities of the main character, and they leave the huge open world RPG and can bring a more linear story-centered adventure.

The Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe could be a brand new title in the popular stealth series. The Assassin’s Creed parts have always drawn heavily from historical periods and facts, which were told with their own fictitious plots and characters. The witch hunts of the 16th century are estimated to have affected tens of thousands of women across Europe. The main manual of the Inquisition was the Malleus maleficarum, which means Witch’s Hammer in Hungarian and Hexenhammer in German. The project title may also refer to the latter. However, the development of the game is still in the early stages, according to rumors, it could be released in 2026. We hope they will reveal more about it officially soon. June 10 at the earliest https://twitter.com/Ubisoft/status/1775553914709930054 may take place.
