The problem with certain Galaxy devices is so bad that the manufacturer has announced a free exchange program, but not yet worldwide.

In the past few days, you have read about how after the OneUI update in April, several Samsung Galaxy owners had a vertical green line appear on the screen of their device, which did not disappear even after a restart and a factory reset. Based on the error, it could be suspected that although many people linked it to the update, it could basically be a hardware problem, which has now been confirmed by the manufacturer’s reaction.

In the meantime, Samsung has announced a replacement program for the screens of a number of affected mobile phones, but for the time being this will only reassure users in one country, and even then not everyone.

The Android Authority based on his report, Samsung currently only replaces displays in India. Although it is possible that this will change, the company did not respond to the portal’s request for this until writing these lines. In any case, Indians can request a free display replacement for the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series, the S21 model family, and the S22 Ultra, if no more than three years have passed since the purchase.

The exact model numbers are in the X-post below, which shows a chat with Samsung support. Based on this, however, the S21 FE is not part of the program, which is interesting because many people complained about this beforehand. However, according to the author of the post, it is possible that the manufacturer will later expand the range of supported mobile phones.

Another restriction is that the application can only be submitted until April 30, which means that the Koreans have set a particularly tight deadline for those involved. In return, Samsung provides a free battery replacement along with the brand new screen. Even now, it is not clear what exactly is causing the problem, but based on posts on social media, several news portals have pointed out that the green line has not actually been taking its toll since the last update, as there were already people complaining about it last year.
