In Ubisoft’s game, ray tracing will be used so strongly that it has not been seen before, and because of this, the French publisher’s plans to bring back Sam Fisher sound exciting.

On Twitter, a well-known insider and data miner named Visceral wrote about the Splinter Cell Remake, which was announced by Ubisoft a long time ago, but we are still waiting for its release. According to him, the game will have unique features, but the biggest innovation will be that our opponents will be able to recognize the player’s whereabouts thanks to ray tracing reflections and sounds! So not only can they see us by directly seeing where Sam Fisher is, but they can also identify the agent’s location based on the reflections.

If the rumor is true, Splinter Cell Remake could push the bar much higher among stealth games, which is about time anyway, because there has been no significant progress in the genre for a few years. We still don’t know much about the game, but we do know something about its technology: it will use the Snowdrop Engine, and following the example of the original, we can expect a linear experience here as well. Beyond these, there are only question marks (and sometimes rumours).

Regarding the Splinter Cell Remake, it’s not that we don’t know when it will be released, nor even what the target platforms are. If it reaches the public within a year and a half, we would say that it will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, or, knowing Ubisoft, Amazon Luna. The French publisher will probably talk about this at Ubisoft Forward, which may reveal important information about the project at the beginning of June, despite the delayed E3.

If Ubisoft really started development in 2021 (their announcement came in December 2021 that Splinter Cell Remake is being made at Ubisoft Toronto), then it should be ready for release this year, or maybe next year, and thus Ubisoft should also present its gameplay Forward.
