Moondrop has unveiled its first smartphone, the MIAD 01. The name stands for Mobile Internet Audio Device and, as you can imagine, refers to the phone’s audio focus.

In the teaser image, we can see the back of the phone in white color and striped design. The camera section is raised and has a dual-camera system along with the branding. Here we also see that the phone advertises the presence of a dual headphone jack. Although none of the jacks are visible in the picture, presumably because they are on the invisible upper edge of the device, we can be sure that there are 4.4 mm and 3.5 mm jacks. The 4.4 mm jack provides balanced sound, while the 3.5 mm single-ended output has microphone support.

The image shows only the power and volume buttons on the right side of the phone, which are orange to match the rest of the phone’s orange accents. The phone has flat sides with sharp corners.

The MIAD 01 was first shown back in February, when a smartphone category appeared out of nowhere on Moondrop’s website. The unchanged page at the time of writing depicts the MIAD 01 name wordmark and the soon-to-be-released board. We hope the page will be updated with the new teaser image soon.

Moondrop: a phone for audiophiles?

Moondrop is a Chinese audio brand known for its IEMs and other audio products. The company has recently expanded its production of mechanical keyboards with integrated audiophile quality sound output. The MIAD 01 seems like a product with an audiophile approach. Still, it’s a pretty big leap in terms of IEMs and keyboards, but we’ll just have to wait for the company to reveal more details about this device.
