Modders made Grand Theft Auto V work on the big N hybrid platform, so an unofficial port was created for the Nintendo Switch, which was inexplicably left out of the game’s target platforms…

Grand was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014, PC in 2015, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series in 2022. Theft Auto V. Nintendo Switch is left off the list, and not because we forgot, but because Rockstar and Take-Two simply DID NOT port the game to this platform, even though the game (and its online segment, Grand Theft Auto Online) is in huge demand, and because of this they may have lost millions in sales.

Although Nintendo mostly portrays itself and its products as family-friendly, there have been examples of them releasing games for adults. most recently, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition came out in 2021 for Switch. After that, it might have been hoped that Rockstar would also transfer Grand Theft Auto V to the portable platform, but the December Rockstar leak confirmed that the company had no such plans at all. Because of this, fans started implementing the port, which now has results.

Superstar South Studios, a group of modders, started the ea port and their tweet shows how it runs on the Switch, which can be considered a milestone. Until now, before Grand Theft Auto V could start, it got stuck. And now that the bank robbery prologue is playable, it will be interesting to see how the open world segment becomes playable, which puts much more strain on the hardware. Although the recording is choppy, the modders revealed that this is the only way it is, because the console performance is better than this.

The graphics have deteriorated a bit, and in some places this can be seen in the quality of the textures. The compromise, however, was necessary due to the performance of the Switch’s hardware. The source code for Grand Theft Auto V was leaked in December, and that’s why the port could be created. Then Take-Two comes and threatens to delete it…
