According to the CV of a programmer, something is being prepared for Sony, but what could be in the works at Climax Studios and how surprising can the result be for us?

Tim Leonard’s biography surfaced on Reddit. Leonard wrote on LinkedIn that a very well-known IP will be brought to the PlayStation 5. It’s worth checking out what Climax has been up to lately, because this one sentence can’t narrow down what Leonard could have been referring to when he wrote this.

The latest game that Climax worked on is a title that many of us know, because it is Returnal. Climax helped Housemarque (which was then bought by Sony Interactive Entertainment) in the development. And before that? Well, Climax was a partner of Housemarque before, as Returnal was not the first title they collaborated on. Maybe an older Housemarque game will be ported to Sony’s current console?

For Resogun, Climax created the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita ports. The PlayStation Vita port of Dead Nation was created by this team, and they also brought it to PlayStation 4 under the subtitle Dead Nation: Apocalypse. So in three cases they ported, once they helped me in directly. So it is possible that one of Housemarque’s older titles will be ported to PlayStation 5. Maybe it’s Matterfall (PlayStation 4 release: August 2017) or Alienation (also a PlayStation 4 exclusive; released in April 2016 and is a shooter action RPG). Or if we were to continue looking towards the shoot’em up style, Nex Machina might come to mind (released for PlayStation 4 and PC in June 2017). We can only guess here.

Don’t expect an official announcement anytime soon, but it is certain that Leonard and Climax are working on something. The studio can even bring an IP to the PlayStation 5 that is NOT related to Housemarque. And then it is impossible to guess.
