ASUS returns the default tuning in one of its top cards

--

The Z790 ROG Maximus Hero received an Intel Baseline Profile, which makes the operation more stable.

In the middle of the month, we wrote about how motherboards can cause the instability of newer and faster Intel CPUs, and it looks like the manufacturers see the situation the same way. ASUS has already released a new BIOS for the Z790 ROG Maximus Hero motherboard, introducing the Intel Baseline Profile. The latter essentially uses parameters for the processors that comply with Intel’s recommendations, that is, it essentially uses the factory settings dictated by the giant company from Santa Clara.

The above parameter can be used to eliminate the stability problems that can occur when using Core processors of the 13th and 14th generation, marked K, i.e. without a multiplier lock. However, it is important to point out that the Intel Baseline Profile has a performance deficit compared to the factory parameters, specifically a Core i9-14900KS gives a 12.6% slower Cinebench R23 result compared to the original configuration. This clearly indicates how much ASUS overclocked the processor in question with its own factory configuration.

It is expected that the update will arrive for the other motherboards as well, and we learned from the manufacturers that Intel strongly asked its partners to provide some easily selectable parameter to apply the factory recommendations. This is also important because the Santa Clara company only guarantees these, and not even for tuning, even if the motherboard provides it by default.
