In regular time, the teams couldn’t handle each other.
It was a big event on Thursday in the Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium. In the afternoon, in the final of the Amateur Cup, Unione defeated Mezőörsi after a penalty shootout. Afterwards, in the evening, the ETO FC Győr-MTK Budapest women’s Hungarian Cup final was held in the capital’s arena.
The match started better for the Rába team, as they took the lead in the ninth minute. Then, after the free kick from the side, the ball was headed back to Dóra Süle, who scored from close range in MTK’s goal. The first half brought another hit: after an excellent jump, Bernadett Barkóczi calmly sold his position.
At the beginning of the second period, White won a penalty. It should be added that the player from Győr had to be replaced due to the foul, he could only leave the playing field on a stretcher. Vachter Fanni took the penalty, but the MTK goalkeeper didn’t get it, which is why it remained 1-1. In the sequel, instead of opportunities, we saw late entries and injuries. Since the teams could not cope with each other in regular time, the penalties came immediately.
The MTK players made three mistakes in the penalties, while the Győrs made only two mistakes, so ETO won the cup for the third time in a row.
