Legendary coach Bob Bowman is leaving the Arizona State Sun Devils swimming program, which employs world champions Hubert Kós and Zalán Sárkány, to whom 18-year-old swimming phenomenon Nikolett Pádár also verbally committed last year. The departure of the former trainer of the 23-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps may of course change Pádár’s plans, but he told the SwimSwam trade portal, for now, he is focusing on this year’s World Championships.
Of course, I’m thinking about it, but I’m in no rush to make such an important decision, since I won’t start university until 2025. I will probably make the final decision after the Paris Olympics.
The Hungarian swimmer has a huge future ahead of her, as she won five gold medals at the 2022 Junior World Championships, while she won ten (!) gold medals at the age group European Championships. The American swimming specialist portal emphasized they “come across” the Hungarian girl overseas: Pádár’s time of 54.41 seconds in the 100 and 1:56.17 minutes in the 200 attracted the interest of all American NCAA clubs. Anyway, the NCAA champion Sárkány Zalá and the adult EC winner and world champion Kós Hubert are also in a similar situation, but even they have not indicated whether they will follow Bowman to Texas. It is not known how this change will affect their future.
Szeged fish soup
Nikolett Pádár’s grandmother was the best swimmer in the Csongrád-Csanád county. Niki’s favorite food is fish soup from Szeged, and she really devours the books of the American writer Colleen Hoover.
