Although the movements on the F1 driver market have accelerated in recent weeks, one thing remains unchanged: Carlos Sainz is still at the top of Audi’s wish list. The Spanish driver, who was sent away from Ferrari due to Lewis Hamilton at the end of the year, is enjoying one of the best periods of his career and would be an absolutely perfect choice for the Germans who will come to the sport in 2026: a top-class, already routine, well-developed driver with a reputation for being a motivated, recognized driver, who is ideal would be to press out the results, to build the company’s F1 squad, and also to set the direction of the car.
It is precisely for this reason that, according to the news, Audi has submitted an offer based on which the Andreas Seidls rightly hope that Sainz will not say no to it, but for now they understand that they have to wait.
In 2025, the car of the current Stake promises to be mediocre, to be honest, and from 2026 onwards, there is no guarantee as to where and how Audi will arrive at the speeding circus. Although Sainz is the perfect option for the company, Audi is not for Sainz if there is a chance to ride in a more competitive car.
His fate may also depend on the decision of Max Verstappen, who, according to the news, has not yet given up on Toto Wolff and Mercedes, and the development of Andrea Kimi Antonelli may also play a role in Brackley.
Audi is also aware of all this, so even though the offer is alive, they are still waiting for the Spaniard’s answer – at least until the Miami Grand Prix.
