The Beijing C-1 1000m Olympic champion founded his own association in Kiskunlacháza four years ago, which he says is developing day by day.

“We have been on the water and rowing since March, but sometimes we have to deal with the weather. In terms of our possibilities, the winter preparation went quite well, and we have been able to get through the spring in our own way so far. We spent a lot of time on the water with the children, we are developing nicely. We have set goals for this year, the realization of which we are moving in the right direction so far,” said Attila Vajda.

The former classic canoeist sees SUP as having a great future, which is why they want to put a lot of emphasis on the increasingly popular discipline in their association. Attila Vajda often gets on the board himself, because he thinks he would lose his credibility if he only gave instructions on the shoreline and didn’t compete at all.

“It will be strange to return to the Maty, especially since my last memories from a racing perspective were of a desire to win. Now I’m just trying to get a good performance out of myself, since this is still very unknown territory for me. I dare not set high expectations for myself, from the point of view of the association, I want to accumulate a knowledge that will allow us to be more in the region. It’s going to be exciting, I’m really looking forward to it, but at the same time it’s going to be a bit strange to live with the duality of competing knowing that there won’t be a realistic chance for first place,” said Attila Vajda.

The special feature of the European Championship, which is returning to Hungary after 22 years, will be the fact that for the first time there will also be a competition in the SUP discipline, reports Kajak-Kenu Sport.
