The clash had high stakes for both sides: while Arsenal is interested in the fight for the league title, Chelsea wants to reach the European Cup round “on a slippery slope”. In the spirit of this, a fast-paced, open helmet fight unfolded on the field, also thanks to the fact that the “gunners” took the lead in the fifth minute: Declan Rice teased it at a great pace Leandro Trossardand the Belgian shot into the net between the legs of the goalkeeper defending the short corner. 1-0

Chelsea threatened with Nicolas Jackson’s pass that bounced off the defender, but luckily for the home team, the ball went off the post. Mikel Arteta’s team could have doubled their lead, but Djordje Petrovic, who was guarding the away goal, made three great saves in a row: first Saka, then twice the scorer Trossard came close to another goal – the Belgian’s second shot also bounced off a defender, but the Chelsea goalkeeper made a tremendous reflex save. After another home attack, Pochettino’s team recovered and could have equalized again, but Cucurella’s shot was blocked by Saliba, while Enzo Fernández’s replay whizzed wide of the goal – the teams returned with a one-goal home lead.

At the beginning of the second half, Arsenal fell to their guests as well, but while Petrovic was able to save Rice’s shot, a few minutes later he too was powerless: after a corner, Rice took aim at the goal, his shot deflected off the leg of Gallagher, who was trying to make a save. Ben White bounced in front of him, who slapped the ball into the net (2-0). Five minutes later, the home team decided the essential questions. Saliba firmly mounted Madueke and then passed to Ödegaard, who started at a great pace Kai Havertz; the German, in Cucurella’s grip, lifted it into the goal over the exiting Petrovic (the goalkeeper was able to touch the ball, but could not prevent the goal). The 24-year-old German excellence flashed again in the 65th minute, this time converting Saka’s pass into a goal with the help of the left post (4-0).

And that was not the end of the domestic show of strength – while Chelsea fell to pieces – in the 70th minute, Ödegaard crossed the ball over the away defense, Ben White he tried to center inside the attacking trio of Saka, Havertz, Trossard, but he did not hit the ball perfectly, which ended up in the upper left corner – the English right-back also doubled. 5-0

Arsenal had a dominant victory over their city rivals and have a north London derby against Tottenham at the weekend, while Chelsea visit the home of Aston Villa next time.
