After Barcelona was eliminated from the Champions League and then failed in el Clásico, the news is getting louder that they can confirm Xavi’s stay this week.
At the end of January, Barcelona lost 5-3 to Villarreal in the 22nd round of the league, and Xavi made a big announcement after the game.
“I would like to announce that as of June 30, I will no longer be coaching Barca. I think the club needs a change and as a Barcelona fan I can’t stand in the way of that.“
After the announcement, Barcelona produced a 13-game unbeaten streak, which included a CL promotion against Napoli and a 3-2 victory in Paris. The last two games, however, covered everything, they were eliminated from the Champions League, and Real beat them 3-2.
However, according to the news, the announcement that Xavi will remain Barcelona’s coach for another year is getting closer.
Roger Torello wrote that in recent months, Xavi has been satisfied with the progress and the way the project continues to build with many youngsters. Now he believes that the work he has done so far can continue because he has felt support from within the club. Xavi has a very good relationship with Deco and president Joan Laporta and vice president Rafa Yuste have always supported him.
In addition, the dominant players of the team have publicly assured him of their support and want him to continue – and not incidentally, the fans too.
According to Spanish information, Xavi wants the reinforcements that were missed last year to take place this summer, that is, a quality player to arrive at the six (pivot) position, and he would also like to see a classy left winger in the team, as well as Bernardo Silva. The latter has already announced that he really wants to come, but the current financial situation hardly makes this possible.
We know that the Laportas cannot promise Xavi that they will fulfill his requests, but there will be a big meeting this week where everything can be decided. Also, money can come with the Nike contract.
