Continuation on Wednesday against the Norwegians.

The Hungarian women’s ice hockey team defeated the Dutch team 2-0 on Monday’s game day of the Division I/A World Championship in Klagenfurt, so they have lost no points after two rounds.

Head coach Pat Cortina’s team started the tournament with a 2-0 win over the South Koreans, while the Dutch lost to the French 5-1.
The two teams already met in a warm-up match on Thursday, when the Hungarians won 7-1, and they had a big advantage even now.

The Dutch defense lasted until the 13th minute, at that time Zsófia Pázmándi he shot under the crossbar with a man advantage. After the turn, the Dutch were also spinning more, they hit the crossbar once. Right before the break though Reka Dabasi dug in a rebound from close range, thus doubling the Hungarian advantage.

The Cortina team also defended well in the final stage and won this match without conceding a goal. Aniko Németh this time he finished with 26 saves.

“It was good that we scored a goal early on, so we didn’t have so much stress in the second and third periods. After the quick goal, we were able to control the match throughout, and in the continuation we tried to play decisively and keep the lead,” the striker told M4 Sport Emma Kreisz, who has one goal and one assist in the two rounds so far. “It’s a team game, a lot of things have to work in order for a goal or two to go in or an attack to succeed. I put in my part and others put in theirs.”

Kreisz, who played in the American university league, emphasized that defense will definitely be very important in the continuation, you can win games with one or two conceded goals, and the positive thing is that they have not conceded a goal so far.

Regarding the next opponent, the Norwegian team, Kreisz indicated that they play very physical hockey, trying to shock their rivals, but he personally is not worried about that, but it is important that they do not fall apart in their heads.

The Hungarians will meet the Norwegian team on Wednesday, the host team Austria on Friday, and the French team on Saturday. The first two places from the tournament are promoted to the elite, while the last one is relegated to division I/B.
