According to national team captain Marco Rossi, thanks to the outstanding performance of team captain Dominik Szoboszlai, the Hungarian national football team turned around and won 3-1 against Montenegro at the end of the European Championship qualifying series on Sunday. The Italian specialist also shared a 2020 story about Szoboszlai.
“I remember when I followed our substitute qualifier against Iceland from home due to Covid, and Szoboszlai fired the national team for the European Championship. In that match, my assistants told me to replace Dominik, because he was tired and there was no more in him, but I kept him in the whole time and he scored the winning goal in the 92nd minute. Dominik is such a player.” – said Rossi, who said that the Liverpool player also played a great role against Montenegro.
“The opponent put us in a difficult situation. They defended deep and didn’t leave any space, so we couldn’t play rhythmically. In the second half, we managed to switch to a higher gear. We won the game mainly thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai, but I’m also very happy with Ádám Nagy’s goal.” – evaluated the Italian manager, who also holds Hungarian citizenship.
The 59-year-old coach long praised the hero of the match, Szoboszlai, who scored two goals in two minutes.
“He really tipped the scales. The football player who can turn the tide of the match. He always plays the matches in Liverpool too, Jürgen Klopp trains much more than me, but we have the same opinion about him. Szoboszlai will also be a top player at world level. As soon as he scores more goals, he will reach his peak.” – spoke about the 23-year-old captain of the national team, who scored his 10th goal in his 38th match for the national team in a shirt with a crest.
