According to Yahoo Sports, Fusaichi Pegasus, the most expensive racehorse of all time, was euthanized on Tuesday at the Ashford Stud Center in Versailles, Kentucky. The beautiful stallion was 26 years old and had reportedly been ill for some time.

The former son of Mr. Prospector, also known as a great racehorse, also nicknamed Fu Peg, came to his first owner in 1998, a Japanese businessman, who paid $4 million for him (to this day, this is the highest amount paid for a racehorse at auction).
He then reached his peak in 2000 when he won the Kentucky Derby, finished second in the Red Bullet, and finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. During his career, he started in nine races, winning 6 of them, earning his owner $1.994 million.
After the victories, his price skyrocketed, so he became the property of Coolmore Stud for 70 million dollars, but the investment certainly paid off, as Fusaichi Pegasus did his job as a hedge stallion until 2020, which probably generated a lot of income for his owner, Origo wrote.
“Fu Peg was a fantastic racehorse and a colorful individual”
said Dermot Ryan, CEO of Ashford Stud.
