Anna Donáth submitted this amendment. The adopted position is a political statement and does not oblige anyone to do anything.

The resolution on the state of the rule of law in Hungary passed the European Parliament with 399 yes votes and 117 no votes, which was adopted as a continuation of the procedure according to article seven. By the way, the resolution does not have binding force, it only has political significance.

By the way, he writes that the situation in Hungary is alarming, although there is improvement in some areas, and the situation is worse in others. It also lists them.

Despite the judicial reform, there are serious shortcomings in this area. They interfere politically in the work of the prosecutors and put pressure on the members of the judicial council. This is important because after the completion of the reform, the committee freed up most of the development funds for Hungary, and the European Parliament initiated a lawsuit because, in their opinion, this release was not appropriate.

The resolution condemns the Sovereignty Act and welcomes the breach of duty proceedings initiated as a result.

He expresses doubts as to whether Hungary will be able to fulfill the consecutive presidency, and joins the frequently seen Hungarian vetoes in the council.

They ask the committee to find a solution so that the EU funds reach the end users, even bypassing the Hungarian government.

Three amendments to the text were tabled, all of which were accepted. One member of the left-wing representative group, the other two Anna Donáth, representative of Momentum. They ask the commission to block the payment of cohesion funds again Judit Varga because of his audio recording, and for the European Court to suspend the sovereignty law with immediate effect. In addition, they ask the committee to do more for the Hungarian government to join the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
