There’s a gaming capsule slot in Japan that’s packed with Intel CPUs like the 2018 Core i7-8700. Unfortunately, you have to go far for it.
24.04.2024 – Everyone already knows that Japan is full of various vending machines, which can be found on almost every corner. Of course, sometimes things that we like to marvel at appear in the foreign press, such as t-shirts and panty machines. Of course, in addition to drink machines, capsule gaming machines (gacha) are also widespread, of which there are plenty in Hungary. You throw in HUF 200 and a ball with a small toy is given out. Well, imagine that you throw approx. HUF 1,100 and you get an Intel processor. Since these gacha slots in Japan are based on all kinds of franchises like anime, movies, Hello Kitty, Naruto, etc., there’s no stopping you from having one that’s CPU throbbing. So, about a year ago, a Japanese Youtuber spotted such a machine, won an Intel Core i7-8700 processor, and tested it in his video.

Except there were problems with it.
The problem
Unfortunately, during the test at home, it turned out that the processor was faulty, which is not surprising to anyone who knows Japanese. Because the store fills the game capsule machine with defective hardware, so it’s more of a collectable than usable. When testing the Intel Core i7-8700, it failed to install Windows the first time, but it worked fine when the CPU was limited to 5 cores and 10 threads. So, although the CPU did not reach the performance of a fully functional copy, it was still good for something.
Anyway, the Intel Core i7-8700 processor is not very available anymore, you could get it on eBay for around HUF 50,000. So for 1100, it’s even good for a key ring. Although it would be a good joke, it is unlikely that there will be a store in Hungary that makes such a machine. I’m sure many people would try it!
