For a month, the store buys not only phones, but also tablets, cables and other gadgets.

Auchan Hungary also joins the action, the aim of which is to collect as many unused mobile devices, GPS, tablets and the chargers and cables used for them as possible from Hungarian households, thereby promoting the circular economy, the company announced on Monday.

In the collection boxes displayed in Auchan stores, you can drop off your unwanted appliances between April 22 and May 22.

With the campaign, the company KÖVET Association, the Jane Goodall Institute, the Protection Association and the Foundation for Africa “Pass back, Brother!!” joins the mobile phone recycling campaign called In the announcement, it was emphasized that Auchan has been taking steps for sustainability and the circular economy for many years. With the current action, I want to reduce the amount of small electronic waste accumulated by the population.

According to their information, in 2023 a total of 1,510 electronic devices were collected during the campaign, including tablets, headphones, batteries and pen drives.

It was pointed out that

unused electronic devices are considered hazardous waste. Obsolete mobile devices make up about two-thirds of all hazardous waste in the world, even though 17 types of metals can be recovered from them, including precious metals, the mining of which is not the least bit environmentally friendly.

This environmental damage can be mitigated by recycling used devices.
