Ukraine said on Sunday that its navy had struck a rescue ship of the Russian Black Sea fleet in the Russian-controlled Crimean peninsula, which was taken out of service after the attack.

The Moscow Times wrote: they did not say where the attack took place, but footage that surfaced on social media, taken in the port of Sevastopol, shows a ship on fire.

Today, the Ukrainian Navy shot down the Russian rescue ship Kommuna in the temporarily occupied Crimea

the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday.

The vessel was used by the Russian Navy for deep-sea rescue operations, including lifting submarines and sunken cargo, and was one of the oldest vessels in service at sea.

Dmytro Pletenchuka spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy said the damage caused by the attack was unclear, but the ship “is no longer capable of performing its duties.”

The attacks will continue until the Russians run out of ships or leave Crimea

Pletenchuk said.
