Helldivers II has been a huge success, and now thanks to a subreddit and Pilestedt, we’ve learned more about Arrowhead’s relationship with Sony, the game’s development and patching dilemma, and more.

It all started with TheGentlemanCEO’s reddit post, in which he discusses the fact that although it may seem that the developers are listening to the players, the overall picture is not so bright and the player community does not have much influence at all on the flow of development and possible additional content.

Pilestedt, CEO of the Arrowhead studio, responded to the post and explained that the studio is not owned by shareholders, but by the employees, and yes, they have a good relationship with Sony, but they are not dependent at all, they work with common goals rather than expectations. He added that they want to do the best that is currently available in the industry, and due to the competitive nature of the industry, they often find it difficult to find the balance between repair and development blessed with constantly changing dynamics.

In the end, he says that they are working on everything, they know that now everyone’s eyes are on them and they have only one goal in front of them: to make the best possible live game that has ever been made. They just need to find the perfect lineup for it.
