I’ve seen a lot of things, but not a vampire ballerina dancing to Danzig – Abigail film review

The Abigail I think its biggest flaw is its marketing, because even the poster is so revealing that we can be sure that something is very wrong with the title character, while the trailer leaves no mystery about it. For this reason, when the pinch-team of selected criminals kidnaps the girl, the viewer who is a little more attentive to them is already aware that there is definitely something going on here, and not just any kind. So the most important question remains when and in what way this suction takes place, as well as whether it is Who was hiding (Ready or Not – 2019) writers and directors present the expected twists in an entertaining way.

Life belongs to the horse! Or the blood?

It is certain that the introduction will start in a fun and effective way. Unknown little girl is doing ballet Swan Lakera, then as he gets home from practice to the hyper-super villa, members of the selected brigade appear to kidnap the child. Frank (Dan Stevens) is in charge of the action, Sammy (Kathryn Newton) is in charge of the hacking, Peter (Kevin Durand) is the muscle, Dean (Angus Cloud) is the flathead who seems to be constantly sucked in, Rickles (William Catlett) is cool, like a stone, Joey (Melissa Barrera) keeps looking at the picture of his son on his phone,

so that it is obvious even to the blind that she is the typical mother figure who will surely find a common voice with the child.

By the way, the plan is that the girl will be accommodated in another, also upscale villa for 24 hours, and daddy will be well milked, with 7 million dollars each, which is a really nice sum, even though you can’t do much with him when he’s dead.

Our heroes also realize this when it turns out who the child’s father is.

There are many rumors about the infamous figure, including that when his men were caught, the captors cut them to pieces. But the kidnappers switch quite late, and by the time they put on the rabbit’s shoes, the villa’s security system closes the building, and the hostage-takers very quickly become prisoners and even victims.

I’ve seen this before, only the ballet is new

There’s really nothing surprising about that Abigailin, because what the poster or the trailer doesn’t cover, we figure it out ourselves, and this time somehow Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett as directors and Stephen Shields and Guy Busick as writers don’t excel as much as we would expect. Yet they made a name for themselves with the likes of the great Irish horror, The child (The Hole in the Ground – 2019), Sikoly 5-6, or just that Who was hidingwhich in addition to the brilliant performance of Samara Weaving

it not only showed what the rich are capable of sacrificing for money, even selling their souls, but it also gave a glimpse into the specific and sufficiently black humor of the creators.

The Who was hiding it’s easily the most original and entertaining horror and horror-comedy of the last 5 years, which is why it’s especially unfortunate that it only ran that long this time.

He’s not anemic at all though

However, now that I have almost dried it Abigailt, I should add that there is some blood in his puss. Peter brings it from Guillermo del Toro’s series, a The Strain – The diseasehis style is also well known from Dan Stevens Apostlein , and this was the last film of Angus Cloud, who died tragically young. The music isn’t bad, especially Swan Lake re-arrangement is great, at least this version of Tchaikovsky’s work is a serious mood factor, but otherwise the highlight is Glenn Danzig and Blood and Tearsis due to, for which the plus point is definitely awarded.

Abigail

Regardless, there’s really nothing here that will make us remember the film for years, or is it Abigail even if there are no major problems with it, it is a missed jump. It’s funny here and there, it’s bloody enough (the creators love exploding bodies), it has some good moments, and even its style is similar Renfield it can also be placed next to it, but essentially it cannot show anything extra. Loose Dracula’s daughter-can’t be interpreted as a remake either, if that’s even been mentioned in connection with the cinema. It’s good for a one-time viewing, but I personally would have expected more from the writers and directors if the end result had nothing to do with Magda Szabó’s novel.

The 109-minute Abigail can be seen in Hungarian cinemas from April 25, viewing is not recommended for people under the age of 18.
