Bad news was announced by Szukits Publishing House at the beginning of February:

We had to make a sad decision. We have been publishing Star Wars volumes for seventeen years, but unfortunately the point has come when we have to announce the end of this era and that no more Star Wars publications will be published under the auspices of the Szukits book publishing house, along with the sale of the existing volumes. .

As written, in practice this means that the pre-order publications will still appear in lower numbers, but new pre-order titles will no longer be released. “You can still buy the existing titles in stock until June 30, 2024, after which their sale will be closed. The above is also true for the canon, legends and comics, i.e. for all Star Wars products published by Szukits,” the publisher informed.

It is not yet known whether there will be someone else who will take over the care of the stories of the galaxy far, far away, in any case, Szukits is saying goodbye to Star Wars with quite a few big releases. One such big throw is that it was published in three hefty volumes in the year a Dark Horse appeared under his auspices Legacy comic book series. Some of its parts were already published in Hungarian at the end of the 2000s thanks to the Adoc-Semic publishing house, but the series can only be purchased in its entirety almost fifteen years later (the three volumes amount to approximately 1,500 pages), moreover, it is a very beautiful, demanding, hardcover publication(s) ) is about.

There aren’t just two Sith here anymore

THE Legacy its story takes place in an exciting, well-structured and complex galaxy. The creators continued to think about the history of Star Wars, and this was done much better and more imaginatively than in the new film trilogy created by Disney. THE Legacyon the other hand, they jumped much more in time Return of the Jedi after its events as In The Awakening Force.

Nearly 130 years have passed since the Galactic Empire was decisively defeated at Endor; the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star, Emperor Palpatine and his right-hand man Darth Vader were killed. Even before the Disney era, countless comics and books told the story of what happened next – the Legacy it follows this timeline and builds on events that are no longer considered canon.

The successor to the Rebel Alliance and the subsequent New Republic is the Galactic Alliance. A remnant of the Empire still exists, having spent more than a century gathering strength, consolidating its power and developing its fleet; and stormtrooper armor still strikes fear in the galaxy. The new Jedi Order, founded by Luke Skywalker, became the guardian and support of the Galactic Alliance, just as the old Order had once been of the Galactic Republic.

However, the fight between the Light and the Dark Sides is not over, the Sith are back, but there are no longer two of them, but a whole legion of them is wreaking havoc on the galaxy.

They ally with the Empire, together they defeat the Galactic Alliance and then destroy the Jedi Order, whose survivors are persecuted and forced into exile. But the Sith are not satisfied with this, they seize the Imperial throne and lead the Imperials to create a new Sith Empire.

Who else could be the last hope of the galaxy but one Skywalker. But this Skywalker (the last known member of the bloodline) doesn’t want to be a hero, he doesn’t care about his family heritage, and he’s willing to blow his brain out with any drug to finally get rid of the temptation of Luke Skywalker’s powerful spirit trying to affect his conscience.

Cade Skywalker he was once a Jedi, but after the Sith killed his father and destroyed his order, he spent the next seven years turning his back on both the remaining Jedi and the Force. He became a bounty hunter, a criminal who can even hunt down and sell his own former Jedi comrades. Although he hates the Sith, he is not concerned with the fate of the galaxy, only his own prosperity. As it becomes clear to him as the story progresses, no matter what he does, he cannot escape either his past or his destiny. THE Legacy its protagonist is thus not a Luke Skywalker at all, but carries all the blessings and curses of the Skywalker bloodline, even more so than his former ancestor, or his Sith lord-turned-father.

The main antagonist of the story is a character no less complex than Cade Skywalker: Darth Krayt, the master of the new Sith Order, broke the Rule of Two and created an entire cult of the new generation of Sith, betraying his imperial allies and proclaiming himself emperor. Krayt was also a Jedi, except during the Clone Wars; he also fought alongside Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. He survived Order 66, which ordered the slaughter of the Jedi, and, driven by despair, embittered, and thirsting for revenge, he reached the ancient sanctuary world of the Sith, Korriban (more commonly referred to as Moraband in the Disney era), where he was absorbed by the Dark Side.

He entered the path of the Sith, broke with the Rule of Two (according to which there can only be one master and one apprentice at a time), and unnaturally prolonged his life through all sorts of dark practices. However, Darth Krayt is sick, afflicted with a strange infection that consumes his strength and self-control in the form of a parasite. More than anything, she wants to find a cure, and ironically, Cade Skywalker might just be able to give her that.

It’s worth buying

THE Legacy-comic book series could easily be made into the next hit series for streaming. His pictorial world has an elaborate and cinematic effect. They created better, more exciting characters for the story: memorable and perverted Sith, pumpkin bounty hunters, battle-hardened Amazons, scheming imperial officers, a brave imperial princess, and Jedi with a tragic fate.

In addition to the Sith and the Jedi, other force users appear, such as the Imperial Knights. They wear a red suit with a cloak, have a lightsaber, can use the Force, but their loyalty does not lead to the Light or Dark Side, they only serve the Empire and its true emperor (who to them is not Darth Kray). They embody perhaps one of the most imaginative innovations.

THE Legacy it has everything: adventure, intrigue, betrayal, love, drama, horror, humor and, of course, grandiose lightsaber duels. Disney’s new movie trilogy can hide in the Legacy behind.

When Disney bought the Star Wars rights in 2012, the Legends In addition to films and animated series, he categorized the books and comics that had been published until then (the so-called Expanded Universe/Expanded Universe). That is, the Legacy it is no longer canon, it is not part of the official Star Wars timeline, but that makes it such an engaging and twist-rich series that is really worth immersing yourself in.

The three hefty volumes published by Szukits are not cheap at all (the price of one volume is HUF 16,990, but at the same time it is always worth checking the Szukits website to see what special offers are available), but if you look at the quality of the series – it is the first time in Hungarian that you can buy it in its entirety , and perhaps for the last time – or provides many hours of quality entertainment, then it is well worth buying the whole Legacy.
