M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter has followed in her father’s footsteps and is making her directorial debut with a creepy horror, for which a new trailer has arrived.

While this year, the genius of high concept thrillers and twists at the end of movies, M. Night Shyamalan tells the story of a serial killer trapped in a concert with Josh Hartnett in the lead role (Trap), while his daughter, debutant Ishana Shyamalan, focuses on a group of aliens trapped in the forest, who are watched by mysterious creatures and executed if they try to escape.

“In the end, it expands into a kind of dark fairy tale, fantasy essence. And that’s what I really like the most.”

said the director about the film. “In many ways, it uses the horror genre to take you into another space, and that will be the surprise of the journey. So hopefully people will be enthusiastic about it.” The film is an adaptation of a novel written by AM Shine, in which Mina, played by Dakota Fanning, is trapped in a forest in the west of Ireland with three strangers during a harmless trip. He is placed in a bunker with a special glass sheet, through which mysterious creatures watch the people in captivity at night.

The new trailer reveals significantly more about the story than the teaser released two months ago, but even so, the final film may still hide a lot of secrets, which may mainly focus on Irish folk motifs and legends. In addition, Ishana Shyamalan can prove how much she resembles her father and how capable she is of striking an original tone and style with her first movie. Of course, Ishana Shyamalan was also responsible for the script and her father paved the way for the film as a producer. In addition to Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouéré play the main roles.

The Watchers arrives in Hungarian cinemas on June 13, 2024.
