5 Harry Potter scenes that didn’t make it into the movies

--

Seeing the wonderful execution of the Harry Potter films, we can absolutely rightly think that the biggest challenge for the creators was the unusual visuals. The truth, however, is that it was an even more difficult task to choose what to include in the rather voluminous novels. into movies. And thus, one could say, inevitably, scenes were left out that would have had their place on the screen.

Quidditch season in the Order of the Phoenix

Quidditch season was completely omitted from the fifth part of the film series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which is a shame if only because because it plays a key role in the novel in terms of Ron’s character development. Because Ron joined the team as a guard in this part, replacing the former captain, Oliver Wood, and this was a huge opportunity for him, thanks to which he could actually step out of Harry’s shadow.

5 Harry Potter characters that almost everyone misunderstood

One of the strangest differences between the novels and the movies is that we didn’t even hear about Mariette Edgecombe’s character in the latter. Marietta was a sixth year Ravenclaw student, one of the girlfriends of Cho Chang, who Harry used to have a crush on. Marietta was the character who betrayed Dumbledore’s Army by revealing their existence and whereabouts to Dolores Umbridge.

On the screen, on the other hand – since the character does not exist – Cho Chang himself was given the thankless role of betraying Dumbledore’s Army, even if unintentionally, under the influence of truth serum. And this significantly changed the dynamic of Harry and Cho’s relationship, when in fact JK Rowling had designed Cho’s role to have nothing to do with betrayal.

SPEW

SPEW/MONKEY, or the National Movement for Constitutional Rights of Elves, was an organization founded by Hermione during Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to raise awareness of the mistreatment of house-elves. And the absence of this organization is sad not only because of the nice gesture, but also because it actually contributed significantly to Hermione and Ron’s first kiss.

Because Ron, who never cared about the rights of the elves before, emphasizes in the last novel that the students must also fight to save the elves. Of course, this also means a lot to Hermione, and it plays a big role in the first kiss between them, which is not at all as romantic on the screen as it is in the novel.

5 female characters from the Harry Potter films, from whom we can still learn a lot today

The name of the Half-Blood Prince is first encountered in Harry’s sixth-year potions book, in which a student wrote down excellent alternative directions for making potions. The author calls himself the Half-Blood Prince, and although this name appears in the film’s title, we still don’t know exactly why Severus Snape, who is actually the Half-Blood Prince, became that. Whereas in the film he himself only tells Harry that “I am the Half-Blood Prince”much more was revealed in the book.

The novel tells us that Snape is a Half-Blood because his father was a muggle and his mother was a witch, and he is a Prince because his mother’s maiden name was Prince. And this also perfectly highlights that Snape’s character is actually even closer to Harry’s by the fact that they both have muggle ancestry.

5 brilliant series that you can enjoy during spring break

At one point in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry hastily hides his potions book and enters the Room of Requirement. There, he finds a rather strange combination, a bust with a wig and a tiara, which he later remembers, and the tiara turns out to be the last Horcrux: the missing tiara of Hedvig the Humpbacked. In the film version, however, Harry unfortunately never meets the tiara.

And so the filmmakers decided to change the plot, and instead of Harry finding out where Hedvig Ravenclaw’s tiara is – by having seen it before – he gets to the horcrux by attuning to its location. In other words, the creators took away a really valuable insight from Harry, and this was also the omitted scene that caused the displeasure of most fans worldwide.
