Debrecen premiere of the movie Bonus Trip

--

As we wrote about earlier, the action-comedy Bonus Trip is available in Hungary from April 18. Even before this, on Wednesday evening, those interested could see the film at a special screening at the Apolló Cinema, where part of the production crew also visited. It is important to emphasize that a significant part of the key scenes of Bonus Trip takes place in Debrecen: the main building of the University of Debrecen and the Chemistry building, Déri tér and Kossuth tér also appear as dramaturgically prominent locations in the film.

Of course, we don’t go past the car chase taking place in and around Tisza István Street, when our protagonists race to save their kidnapped interpreter, who speaks Hungarian less well – and their own lives. Until now, we have hardly seen FBI agents traveling on MÁV-START InterCity or Hungarian long-distance buses, but Marshall and Demetrius (who is much more of a rap influencer who is constantly on live broadcasts) are still forced to do so during the investigation of a local crypto criminal organization.

After the screening, Martin Csaba, the writer-director of Bonus Trip, and Spencer Vaughn Kelly, who almost always follows the rules and plays the role of professional melee fighter Marshall, also gave a short interview to Haon.

There was one goal: to put Debrecen on the map of the international film industry

– I am from Debrecen, I was born and grew up here. In terms of lifestyle, I live in Budapest, but my documents still show my address in Debrecen, I am proud of my roots – pointed out Martin Csaba.

He revealed that he had long planned to shoot a film that he could “bring home” to Debrecen. He recalled that it was an interesting challenge to select actors from the United States, Great Britain and Poland, but thanks to local connections, they were already moving smoothly with the organization of the shoot. From the first moment, they were able to enjoy the support of the city from both the municipality and local institutions. He noted that they would not necessarily have received this from Budapest.

– I wanted to put the city on the film map, because I think Debrecen is as beautiful and exciting as Budapest – he underlined.
