Von der Leyen threatens the Italians with the example of Hungary

We will see how the Italian people decide. If our joint work with the new government were to go in a negative direction, we have the tools, we have already proven this in the case of Hungary and Poland, said Ursula von der Leyen. The president of the European Commission gave a lecture at one of the New York universities, after which the students could ask questions, and one of them inquired about the weekend elections in Italy.

In his answer, the politician spoke about the need to protect the rule of law in the European Union and

as an example, he claimed that there were problems with the independence of the judiciary and corruption in Hungary and Poland as well.

He noted that he is ready to cooperate with any democratic government that is willing to defend European values. “I know that sometimes we are slow and we talk a lot about one topic, but this is the beauty of democracy,” pointed out von der Leyen, who reiterated that Ukraine can still count on the full support of the European Union.
