As it was said during the evening, the awards went to professionals who, based on the nomination of their colleagues, managers or the association itself, have achieved important educational and educational successes and results, apply educational methods in the best possible way in various fields of pedagogy, setting a good example they serve, and last but not least, they do their best to increase common values. “It’s a good feeling that one’s work is recognized and noticed, because we get this from colleagues. Of course, I’m also happy because I’ve really been in this profession for thirty-two years. I know everything about the association, the meetings in Rozsnyó and the most important events in Hungarian education in the highlands. And that’s why I think it’s appropriate to say that if someone is awarded, they should set an example. I don’t know if I am a good example of this, but if I am, then perhaps it is because my commitment to Hungarian education in the highlands has never wavered. Of course, my colleagues and I did not only do professional things, but I dealt a lot with education policy even in the most difficult times. Professionalism was important to me in order to give the best of myself. I hope that this has come across to others, for example in the various trainings I have given over the past three decades. However, the situation is not simple now, the picture is very mixed regarding the current and future face of the domestic education sector. I am glad that there is enough time to introduce reforms, there is money and the will for mentoring grants, or indeed for experimental schools. All of this fills me with hope, but I am very skeptical that these developments and developments depend to a large extent on politics. No one knows what changes in politics are coming, or what would happen if the planned reform were swept away. If I look back on my career so far, I feel that the 10 years after the regime change were the best. If I only look at the Hungarian community, public life, or the teaching profession, I have to say that we were full of faith and enthusiasm in many areas. We wanted to achieve things, which is why the Rozsnyó conference was created, for example. There were a lot of enthusiastic people who, so to speak, voluntarily took on a lot of extra work for free. In today’s world, this is almost unimaginable,” Attila Fodor told Új Szo in the moments before the award was presented.
