Last time, it was also a pleasure to knock on the door of Gyöngyi Füsi, the school’s dance teacher. He had something to be proud of again!
– Our spring started well with the National Dance Festival, which consists of two parts, the semi-finals and the final. The former was organized in Paks, where we won the third prize. After the professional evaluation of the jury, when they said what they saw in the production and gave their opinion on the possibilities of improvement.
A hard, “working” period followed.
– The choreography changed a little, we improved the postures, the small details, which the strict eyes of the jury noticed. As a result, we took a step forward. What our team needs to improve a lot in is performing arts skills. Their technical knowledge is adequate, they spin and move beautifully, they look good, but how I perform a choreography is the sour-pepper of everything. We still need to improve in this, so that next time our award will be beautiful and shiny gold.
The “Voices”
– This is a very difficult, abstract, movement art dance. Because he has no story, his emotions are not directly expressed. A genre that is a notch harder than a contemporary or a modern piece that has one a story about something. Here, every movement has to start “from within” in order to be able to express something.
Before the next task
– We prepared a group choreography for the national study competition of the Education Office. The piece is called “Home”, four people dance in it, and it tells their story (which takes place in a room). The music was chosen by the girls, it is to their liking, which is half the success, since they prefer to work for what they liketo. The “miracle” was already born here, they were able to perform it and not “just” dance it away.
Do they go their own way?
“Something, but it’s a very good thing.” I really like to work with them in the way mentioned. In this regard, we enter into a partnership relationship with each other. I handle work and my relationship with them plastically and flexibly. This joint creative work is cheerful, but tiring. I don’t see tired, disappointed faces, but they are still teenagers, which I also have to take into account – he added with a laugh.

The VIII. At the National Modern-Contemporary Dance Study Competition in Pécs, the school’s modern dancers participated in the study competition in two age groups with four choreographies.
The VII. in the age group, in the contemporary solo category, Dorottya Kiss’s choreography “Escape” finished in 3rd place.
The VII. In the age group contemporary group category, the choreography “At home” also won 3rd place, which was danced by Eszter Gráczer, Dorottya Kiss, Kamilla Pahocsa and Dóra Szücs.
The VII. in the age group “Délutáni táncoska” performed by Eszter Gráczer and Dóra Szücs and in the V. age group with the choreography “Magamban” they could not stand on the podium, but they also danced wonderfully. Congratulations to all of them!
And now they are performing in front of the domestic audience as well!
This occasion is marked by the now-traditional World Dance Day Gala organized by the Wesley-Da Capo Elementary School of Arts. The event will be held at the Bartók Theater on Sunday, April 28, 2023, with two identical performances, starting at 3 and 6 p.m.
