The smart zebra is necessary because the majority of motorists do not allow pedestrians to cross the Ágoston tér zebra, which is also clearly visible in our video. Incidentally, the problem exists not only here, but also at the Tettye, Zöldfa and István utca pedestrian crossings, but there will be no smart zebras there. The sidewalks are not being repaired on this section either, and it is almost impossible to travel between Tettye utca and Szőlő utca with wheelchairs and strollers.

Biokom forgot about sidewalks

This is a more than 40-year-old story, since then nothing has happened to the sidewalk between Tettye utca and Szőlő utca – one of the residents told Pécs Aktuál, who said that this was reported several times to local government representative Tamás Horváth, who promised to renovate the sidewalk last year, but nothing has come of it so far. The pavement on this section was completed before the regime change, it has been broken for at least 30 years and is prone to accidents, but it is not repaired, nor are the missing curb stones replaced. The biocom workers working there said that they were only instructed to repair the roads, not the sidewalk, which now looks like this:

Making the Ágoston tér pedestrian crossing safer by the municipality Dénts Velünk! is part of his project, during which they build a smart zebra and install signal heads that emit a yellow warning signal at the request of the public. The road markings will also be renewed, among other things, yellow speed bumps will also be established. The pavement of Kálvária Street between Szőlő Street and Ágoston Square was repaired in several places. During the works, the broken paving stones were picked up in the Kálvária utca bus stops and then asphalted.
