The approximately 120 students who participated in the Girls’ Day at the MATE Kaposvár Campus on Thursday were able to immerse themselves in the world of science. The institution has organized the event for the third time, the aim is to arouse interest in scientific, technological and technical professions.

Léna Boda and Málna Kozma came from Munkácsy Mihály High School to the Girls’ Day. – We are both interested in the scientific career, primarily in medicine. We would also like to get to know the opportunities offered by the Kaposvári Campus. We believe that women have a place in the scientific field, and in many cases they can think much more purposefully than a man.

The approximately 120 female students were able to get an insight into the various fields of science at six locations. In this way, they could get closer to the world of physiology, microorganisms, mathematics, drones or even embryology, among others. – They can find out why embryo production is important, I will introduce embryo freezing and they can also try pipetting – said Katalin Nagy, scientific assistant at the Institute of Animal Husbandry Sciences.

At the opening, associate professor Veronika Halas encouraged the girls to choose a profession in which they find joy. – Every year there is a lot of interest in the programs, we see that if we can show interesting things, and later even involve them in a research, then they are happy to choose the scientific career. I don’t believe that there are girls’ and boys’ professions, male and female qualities are not set in stone.
