Lestyan Martin set a record in the Sirató Backwaters in Békésszentandras, since no one had previously caught a carp bigger than the 25.15 kilos caught in this water area.

“The Sirató-holtág in Békésszentandras is a treasured location for countless more beautiful fishing experiences, and our loyal submitter Lestyan Martin can boast of many beautiful catches from this water area (also). The two of them have now brought together what will be history from now on: the officially recorded backwater carp record of our catch list has been broken,” wrote the Körösvidéki Horgász Egyesületek Szövetsége (KHESZ), which also published the report of the pecás on its Facebook page.

Lestyan Martin set out on the shore of the backwater for the first time on April 2 this year, and he was immediately delighted by hooking the beautiful carp.

The angler had to work to successfully land the fish.

“After the catch, the fish immediately swam into a snag, but after a few minutes of struggle, it luckily got out of it,” said Martin, who was confronted with the true size of the fish only at the end of the effort, during the fishing.

“The 1×1 meter dipper was completely filled with fish. After being pulled ashore, the scales showed 25.15 kilos. This giant gave me a great experience,” reported the angler, who had never caught a fish bigger than this carp before.

The KHESZ tries to motivate the submitters of catch stories with a gift, as it is drawing a general regional ticket for 2025 among those who write reports about big catches, beautiful fish, and special fishing successes. The new carp recorder may also have a good chance.
