At each station, the young people were given tasks related to the work of disaster management, fire chief lieutenant Ádám Németh, spokesperson of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Disaster Management Directorate, told our news portal.
– At the same time, there were also locations where the police and the military prepared various puzzles. At the fire protection point, for example, the participants had to stand in a house into which a machine had previously blown smoke. At another location, the young people were treated to skill tasks related to flood and inland water protection. Our important goal is for the students to get to know how disaster management works, as well as to acquire knowledge that they can use in real life in the future, added the spokesperson.
They had to prove themselves at ten stations
The young people went through a total of ten stations, at each point they had 15 minutes to prove their skills.
Ádám Asódi, a student of the Szandaszőlős Primary School and Elementary Art School, applied for the competition for the first time.
A house full of smoke awaited the starters
“This is not my first competition, but I was still looking forward to this year’s competition,” he said. – We try to learn from the mistakes of previous years and do better every year. I particularly enjoyed the task where we had to go into a house full of smoke and search for various objects. While my teammates answered fire safety questions, we had to assemble the tools collected in the building – Ádám Aszódi recalled one of the most exciting challenges of the competition.
