In addition to the latest diagnostic and therapeutic options, the participants of the Rheumatology Education Program (DROP) in Debrecen, which started on Thursday, will review the results of rheumatology and immunology. The 10th jubilee conference organized at the University of Debrecen will discuss, among other things, autoimmune diseases, as well as borderline issues of rheumatology and metabolism, dermatology, and endocrinology.

The anniversary DROP conference was attended by around five hundred participants from domestic medical universities and the country’s health institutions. At the professional event, mainly professionals from the University of Debrecen will present their scientific results and experiences.

– The long-standing professional program is an excellent opportunity to strengthen domestic collaborations, learn about the latest domestic and international scientific and therapeutic results, and strengthen the relationship between healers and pharmaceutical manufacturers. In the coming days, they should exchange experiences, learn about international trends and innovations, so that they can contribute to the development of universal science and, through it, society, which is also the most important mission of our institution, he emphasized in his greeting György Kossachairman of the board of trustees of the István István Foundation for the University of Debrecen at the opening of DROP on April 26.

Zoltán Szabó, the president of the Clinical Center, pointed out that rheumatology is one of the most dynamically developing specialties in recent years.

– The most significant structural transformation of the Clinical Center was completed in 2023. During the integration, organizational, professional and infrastructural developments were realized. In the three-year process, the rheumatology profession showed significant development, which is due, among other things, to the close cooperation between clinical patient care and the department. In 2021, the independent Rheumatology Clinic was established, which will continue its activities as the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic on May 1st, with which the management of the university and the Clinical Center acknowledges the successful work so far, he added. Zoltán Szabó vice chancellor, president of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.

The Debrecen Rheumatology Education Program, DROP, has been organized every two years since 2007 by the Rheumatology Department of the University of Debrecen. Today, it has become one of the largest conference series in the country.

– I think that the conference – which is the emblematic series of events of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen – is a unique opportunity for development, since at this year’s event as well, the excellence of the profession, including the recognized authorities of the University of Debrecen, will share their experience and knowledge and discuss the most interesting cases. . The fact that the university is hosting the program this year creates an opportunity for the students to benefit and learn from what was said here, he stated. László Mátyus, dean of the Faculty of General Medicine of DE.

The participants of the jubilee 10th DROP conference will review the main topics of the previous congresses and discuss the latest results and current events in rheumatology-immunology, as well as the novelties of the frontier areas.

– We have been using targeted therapy for years, but this field is also developing a lot, as a result of which more and more therapeutic preparations are being developed. In addition to the novelties of targeted therapy, cell therapy is also discussed at the event. Knowledge of the development of diseases is also changing rapidly, new genetic and immunological mechanisms are being discovered, which we will also discuss. Our speakers will also share their experiences with the most modern laboratory and imaging procedures, he explained Zoltán Szekanecz main organizer, head university professor of the Rheumatology Department of DE ÁOK.
