Deputy mayor György Paláncz highlighted that the number of registered crimes decreased from 2022 to 2023, and thanked him for the high-quality police work. He added: they just closed the previous year from a financial point of view: last year, more income flowed into the city coffers than expected, which created an excellent basis for this year, and we managed to create a reserve.
Councilor Zoltán Opauszki said: a farm and countryside development program was prepared as a proposal of the Fidesz-KDNP faction. He pointed out that the inner parts of the city have been significantly developed in recent years, but attention must be paid to the peace of all, including those who live on the periphery in terms of territory. He mentioned that the city has 400 kilometers of vineyard roads.
Earlier, he suggested that the vineyard roads be named, as well as that the bridge connecting Kórház and Kiss Ernő streets be named after Ernő Sztraka, an honorary citizen of Békéscsaba. Many buildings in Békéscsaba are associated with the name of the former city architect, for example, he designed the town hall and this bridge. The works related to the names are in progress, and the committee may make a final decision on the issues soon.
A part of the environmental protection budget has been divided: more money will be allocated to reduce the number of pigeons that have multiplied in the city, and trees will be planted, typically along the roads affected by public transport, to replace the missing individuals. They also talked about: it would be important to deal with the issue of rainwater drainage in a complex way, since a heavy rain can cause damage in certain places. In the meantime, attention must also be paid to retaining the water, as they could irrigate with this water later.
