In February 2020, the victims of the bullying at the children’s home in Bicske announced that they would file a lawsuit for compensation against several institutions that may be responsible for the children living in the home being bullied by the educators. Julián Pop Mert, the instigator of the pedophile scandal at the Bicske orphanage, and his 8 companions settled with the state in 2020 and received one hundred million in compensation at the time, as they all accepted the settlement, the Blink.

The newspaper learned from the Ministry of the Interior that the General Directorate of Social and Child Protection paid them a total of HUF 154 million following the out-of-court settlement agreement concluded with 9 people.

Pop Mert Julián received several tens of millions in damages, some of his peers received less. The size of the sum was probably influenced by the suffering suffered.

As is well known, in 2019 the former director of the children’s home in Bicske was given a final 8-year prison sentence, who for years committed sexual acts with the minors under his supervision. Two young people had not yet passed the age of 12 at the time they started, and had sexual relations with three victims before the age of 14.
