According to the well-founded suspicion, on April 23, during the early evening rush hour, the 20-year-old man, driven by his friend, was heading towards Debrecen from Nyíregyháza on highway number 4. The young people complained that the driver of the vehicle in front of them was driving at the maximum permitted speed limit, so they tried to force him to go faster by driving closely behind him.
When they left Újfehértó and reached a straight stretch of road, the driver began to overtake the vehicle, and when he got next to the passenger car, the suspect sitting in the “mother-in-law’s seat” held a gas-disarming weapon through the rolled-down window and fired a targeted shot in the direction of the hood of the car.
The innocent driver was frightened by the shot and pulled over to the curb, then started following the young people due to reading the license plate number. Fortunately, there were no personal injuries or material damage, but the suspect intentionally created a dangerous situation.
The young shooter was caught in Debrecen and interrogated as a suspect for a crime against traffic safety.
The prosecutor’s office proposes the arrest of the young man for an intentional crime capable of causing public outrage, because it can be strongly assumed that if he were to be released, he would endanger the evidence, especially his co-suspect, or he would intimidate or influence the witnesses.
