Fallen trees were removed at Szelim Cave

--

THE DINPI recently announced on his social media page that from April 26 to May 10 it will not be possible, or only within limited limits, to visit the Tatabánya Selim Cave. The closure was introduced due to filming and accident prevention works. They added that during this period the Turul monument, the Turul nature trail, the Nature trail, the Dizzy rock and its surroundings will still be open to visitors.

When we were outside, the preparations for the filming were already visible, but we did not receive an answer to the question of what kind of film will be filmed in the coming period. What is certain, however, is that car wrecks were placed in the vicinity of the cave, which can be considered props for filming.

We contacted DINPI in connection with the works mentioned in the post. Péter Csonka, head of the directorate’s Gerecsei Tájegyszék, told us that DINPI is the nature conservation trustee for so many caves, as well as the Szelim cave in Tatabánya.

According to our information, the necessary work was completed on Thursday morning, the specialists removed the trees that had fallen into the tunnels, which could have fallen to the bottom of the cave without intervention.
