Small businesses in Csaba receive significant credit support

--

The Fidesz-KDNP faction held its press conference evaluating Thursday’s general assembly on Friday. Councilor Zoltán Opauszki and deputy mayor György Paláncz talked about the small business loan support, the farm development program, and the naming of the vineyards and the Kórház Street bridge, among other things.

The briefing was started by the recently elected deputy mayor of Békéscsaba, who first spoke about the awarding of city awards. György Paláncz he said that the general assembly had a difficult task this time, as only a limited number of the board can decide on recognitions. This year, the Outstanding Teacher of Békéscsaba award Katalin Hugyecz Krnács to the Public, respectively Csilla Bordásné Mundrucz, the teacher of the Petőfi Utcai Primary School received it. This year, the award for Békéscsaba Health Care dr. Hedvig Bayerretired chief surgeon, and dr. Eva Bagyinka can be taken over by a district nurse. The general assembly also made a proposal regarding the awarding of the prize for Békés county Józsefre Pásztor.

The deputy mayor pointed out that at Thursday’s general meeting, the representative body discussed many reports, including those from the police and the fire department. As he said, they owe a debt of gratitude to the work of both bodies, since they work for our peace and security, and the county seat is in an excellent position from this point of view, because it is considered one of the safest on a national level as well.

György Paláncz noted that the adoption of the final accounting decree was an important proposal, as the general assembly was able to decide on the fate of more than HUF 220 million, which was actually left over from last year. A significant part of this, about 160 million forints, has not yet been determined by the general assembly, but more than 57 million forints have already been decided.

– From this sum, the general assembly supports goals that it might not have had the opportunity to do before, such as the holding of the Three Towns Cycling Festival or the support of the Kvasz András Békés County Flying and Paragliding Association, since next year the Békéscsaba airport will host the European Gliding Championship, which is also an outstanding event from a tourist point of view – he detailed.

The politician also reminded that the assembly also decided on two important matters. One of them is the launch of the loan support program for small and micro-enterprises, which means that the smallest businesses in Csaba can take out loans on very favorable terms, i.e. with interest subsidies. György Paláncz said: the city can provide interest subsidies for an amount between 2 and 10 million forints, without self-reliance, from which the development of the business can be carried out. He added: those who use this type of loan only have to pay 4.9 percent interest in the first three years, which can be said to be quite favorable considering the market conditions, he pointed out. In addition, micro and small businesses will be able to use asset development support in the amount of 15 million forints, which the municipality provides as a 50 percent non-refundable subsidy, with a maximum value of 750 thousand forints.

After that Zoltán Opauszki councilor, the leader of the party’s faction in Békéscsaba took the floor. The politician spoke about the adoption of the farm development program, which was the work and proposal of the Fidesz-KDNP representative group. According to him, it is also important for them to deal with this issue, because in recent years they have concentrated more on the development of the city center, but the outlying areas have been treated a little step-wise. In addition, in case of rainy weather, the 400 km dirt road network, which is in the administrative area of the city, deserves special attention, because there are fundamental infrastructural deficiencies in this area.

– By December 31, we must prepare an action plan that also defines the resource requirements for 2025 in order to be able to count on this when planning the local government’s budget for next year so that meaningful measures can be taken along this program, he said.

Zoltán Opauszki also noted that in February 2023 he initiated a proposal to change the name of the vineyards located in the administrative area of Békéscsaba. He pointed out that the preparation of this work started last year and the municipality has now reached the point where the historical names were uncovered with the help of a professional team. Based on this, a document was prepared, which several committees proposed for the general assembly to accept, then after the Ministry of the Interior has given its opinion, the opinions of the relevant local government representatives and the residents will be sought, and if all this has been done, then the final decision of the general assembly can take place, which will be in June at the earliest due.

The councilor also spoke about the fact that he had also recently received numerous inquiries about the city’s honorary citizen, Ernő Straka, named after a former chief architect. As he said, despite the fact that many public areas and buildings bear the hand of the famous architect, nothing has been named after him in Békéscsaba, so it occurred to him that the bridge designed by Sztraka could be named after him. He added that in this case too, the first step would be to inform the population, and then the final decision on the name of the crossing could be made at the June meeting of the representative body.
