According to the Dutch newspaper’s article writer, Balázs Orbán is the architect of the Orbán system, which is now a cross-border political movement that wants to “renew” the current EU from within.
Balázs Orbán is a familiar face at right-wing conferences, such as last week’s NatCon in Brussels, but also at the Demographic Conference held every two years in Budapest. Balázs Orbán is also present at “CPAC Hungary”.
Balázs Orbán, a law graduate, joined the Hungarian Prime Minister’s cabinet in May 2018, where his star rose rapidly, the paper writes in its critical article. He has been Viktor Orbán’s right-hand man since 2022, and Budapest observers consider his role to be crucial in all decision-making.
A fight for principles based on Christianity
We are fighting to preserve our unique language and culture. We are fighting to maintain a state that provides security for all Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin. We fight for principles based on Christianity, for the foundations of our society. In other parts of Europe, it is no longer allowed to say out loud that the family – man, woman and their children – is the cornerstone.
Balázs Orbán is quoted as saying. The article writer highlighted:
This is not a conservative, but a very pragmatic attitude. In Hungary, conservatism means survival.
On July 1, 2024, immediately after the European Parliament elections to be held between June 6 and 9, Hungary will take over the EU presidency, which makes Brussels extremely nervous, the NRC points out.
According to the first surveys, a right-wing advance is expected in the June election. Are Orbán’s ideas gaining strength in Europe, asks the author of the Dutch paper’s article.
The article quotes Balázs Orbán: A hot political summer awaits Europe, Hungary will change the Union, not the other way around.
“Brussels must be completely transformed, we enter the European election campaign with this message,” says the political director.
In addition, the paper also “of course” criticized Hungary’s fight against migrants and the Orbán government’s attacks on György Soros.
