16 teams from the first round of the Körös-Maros National Park Administration’s Túzok natural science competition made it to the finals, which came from Kisújszállás, Szarvas, Békéscsaba, Békés, Battonya, Szeghalom, Vészt, Hódmezővásárhely, Öcsöd and even from Fejér county, Alap village competitors.
– This year, the teams were able to listen to a presentation about the crested bird of our directorate, the buzzards. Visitor center manager Krisztina Körömi presented, among other things, the habitat and way of life of badgers, badger protection activities, the characteristics of the species, and the importance of badger protection. After that, the teams gave an account of their knowledge acquired during the presentation. Given the closeness of the competition and the preparation of the teams, a separate battle for the top step of the podium took place to establish the final order, which was fought by the Kuvik Banda from Békéscsaba and the Crazy Squirrels from Battonya, reported on the website of the national park.
In the end, the twisty finale favored the Crazy Squirrels team with a “squirrel hair” advantage, so this year they triumphed at the Battle of Túzok. Among other things, their reward is a class trip to the Körösvölgy Zoo.
