On paper, the oligarch’s company’s offer was still the cheapest of the three: Strabag Építő Kft. and Swietelsky Magyarország Kft. would have asked even more for the work. The tender was issued by the Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM) led by János Lázár, the open EU procedure started in September last year, the final bid deadline was November 23, 2023, Népszava reported based on the inspiring article of VG.hu.
From László Szíjj, we get not only the 756-meter-long bridge, but also 28 kilometers of road, five roundabouts and a bicycle underpass for our money.
The parts of the tender are as follows:
• 28.8 kilometers of two-lane and two-lane roads are being built, including a roundabout, three road bridges, and the diversion of the bicycle path from the new Danube bridge.
• The new bridge will be built with a superstructure length of 756 meters, for which two floodplain bridges and one riverbed bridge will be built. The total structural height will be 2.75 meters. The bridge will have a cross-section of 2,200 two-lane divided tracks, supplemented by a bicycle path crossing.
• An 8.5-kilometer-long, two-lane divided highway will be built next to the floodplain bridge to the M6 highway. It will include five new roundabouts, a structure over sidings and a public road, a three-span structure over a siding, a two-support structure over an industrial road, and a 3.9-meter-wide bicycle underpass frame element.
During the investment, bicycle paths will be built, utilities will be replaced and built, and a parallel agricultural road will be built, and the new roads will be connected to national and local roads at the roundabouts.
