The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) initiated proceedings against the caretaker of the school after it was revealed that he caused the pungent smell inside the institution, which caused thirty-one children to be taken to the hospital with coughing symptoms.

According to the BRFK’s press conference on Friday morning, the arriving policemen interrogated those who were at the school in Soroksár, including the man who worked as the institution’s custodian. According to the man, he poured various compounds on the floor of the institution, and then even tried a gas spray in the caretaker’s dressing room.

During his interrogation, the man admitted his actions and said that he was sorry for what had happened. The Budapest Police Headquarters initiated proceedings against him for the offense of reckless endangerment committed in the course of his occupation,

– said the spokesperson of the BRFK, Soma Csécsi.

As previously reported by the Index, sthe students smelled a pungent smell of gas in XXIII. in the district Török Flóris Primary School on Wednesday morning. Disaster management staff were also on the scene, and they established with mobile laboratory measurements that no dangerous substance was in the air at that time.
