The KultFesz, starting on the evening of Friday, May 3, in the Tokácsli Gallery in Szentes, is partly based on the relationship between comics and rock music. An exhibition, concerts, performances and a book presentation await its enthusiastic audience in the last spring month. As the choice of topic indicates: young people and veterans alike.
We really had an intention to reach several generations with these two genres. In addition, two years ago, a publisher appeared that published at least a dozen music comics in a short period of time. No more than 6-7 publications of this kind have been published in the past, for thirty years
– declared Mátyás Arató, an employee of the Concert Center in Szentes, as one of the organizers of the programs.
On Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m., the exhibition that provides the framework for the programs and selects the works of the publishing house Master-Lab Comics will open. The team made up of the artist Csaba Mester, the writer and publishing manager Attila Tóth-Laboncz, and the writer and editor Zoltán György voted for the marriage of rock music and comics. They have already worked together with Zoli Ganxsta, the singer-guitarist of the Mystery Gang, Péter Egri, the bands Hooligans and Moby Dick, or the comedian László Hadházi. Immediately related to this, the day after the opening, Saturday, May 4, from 7 p.m., the Mystery Gang will play music; according to the recommendation, there will be a guaranteed atmosphere and dancing.
Mátyás Arató said: at the same time, some programs do not so much represent the music as they represent the whole or part of Christmas Eve. As an example, he mentioned the May 23 presentation of the comic book about the last witch trial in Szentes, and the May 28 presentation of the book about the last executed people of the Kádár era, including Barnabás Kókai of Szentes. The latter publication presents 19 common law criminal cases, from the antecedents to the investigation to the evidentiary procedure. At the event, András Vörös will talk with author Péter Dulai.
The Turan Road Music on May 14 promises to be a real specialty, a meeting of Kyrgyz folk music and Hungarian spiritual jazz. But singer, songwriter and writer László Kollár-Klemencz, among others, will come to Szentes with his musical evening.
