“That’s why we have to take great care of our freshmen,” he continued Mayor István Bogáth, who moved every stone for the safety of the freshmen. For example, he called in specialists.

Márton Vlad András, the BirdMania Bird Park and Nature Conservation Rescue Center his colleague also listened to the story with great attention. According to the Dömös bird rescue and stork expert, this is the 38th artificial nest built in the last 2.5 years by the E.on with his help and assistance to an electric pole. Then the 25-30 kilogram “apartment” was completed, with which the original one was replaced, but before that, a drone inspected the exact location.

The skies were not very kind to the bird rescue operation, because due to the torrential rain it was hard to see what was hiding in the soaked and crumbling nest. Thanks to the achievements of modern technology, it became clear in no time that one of the members of the pair of storks was not moving despite the greater commotion in the area. She had every reason to do so, as she kept two eggs in the nest.
During the stork rescue, the specialists carefully removed the eggs from the nest, which were placed in a mobile incubator, and finally returned to their original place, only in another nest.
The clapper didn’t fly too far, watching the action from the chimney of one of the houses opposite. Finally, we had to wait almost half an hour before the bird took its place again at the top of the column opposite the convenience store. The small group on the spot sighed as one and acknowledged that the pair of storks were saved on Kömlőd.

The bird rescuer also shared with our newspaper that white storks mostly visit open grassy areas, fields, and shallow waters for feeding. Avoids tall grass and forest. And the nearby reservoir is just right for this. We know it was weeks ago artificial stork also moved into the water, which made the people of Kömlőd hope that a real companion would soon join him. And this dream soon came true…

An artificial nest saved the chicks

The plumage of white storks is mostly white, but the ends of their wings are covered with black feathers. Its legs are long, its beak is long, pointed and red. It is a bird of prey and eats a wide variety of species; preys on insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals and birds. Monogamous, but couples do not stay together for life; the pair builds the nest together from twigs, which they then use for years. The hen usually lays four eggs, which hatch after 33-34 days. The parents take turns incubating and both feed their chicks in the stork’s nest. The chicks fly out at the age of 58-64 days, after which the parents feed them for another 7-20 days.
