The future Paks II was completed at the end of October last year. to a depth of 5 meters, and the soil consolidation works started in November and will last until the end of June 2025, by which time it will be completed under the sixth block. During the works, a total of 75,600 piles will be drilled to a depth of approximately 30 meters.

In the interview, Gergely Jákli also gave a sense of the dimensions: “the base plate is 33 hectares, on which will be the two nuclear power plants and the service buildings. Soil consolidation must be carried out under 17 hectares of the 33 hectares. The soil consolidation works under the nuclear island of block five are expected to be completed this summer in, and then the excavation of the soil can begin to a depth of minus 23 meters.
