Drug prices can change a lot, for an unusual reason

--

They would double the number of Hungarian medical devices in order to make Hungary self-sufficient in case of emergencies. The goal of the new healthcare strategy is to be among the first 10 innovators in Europe by 2030. This can also bring changes in drug prices.

In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to improve on the points that Balázs Szentgyörgyi, the managing director of Neumann János Nonprofit Kft., presented at the Budapest conference of the Hungarian Health Management Society.

The most important of these is the doubling of the number of mentioned medical devices. This will help Hungary in critical health situations, so the country can become completely self-sufficient even in emergency situations, says the Index. Balázs Szentgyörgyi said that the study was compiled from 850 professional proposals, after interviewing more than a thousand companies. For this was determined usingwhich points need to be improved in order to reach the health goal.

For this reason, drug prices may also change

According to those interviewed, the question of TB-financed medicines is also a similar point, their prices have not increased for years.

The fact that 200 billion dollars worth of patents will expire this year may bring a favorable change for domestic generic drug manufacturers. From this, it can be concluded that the prices of some medicines may also change.

They will strive for a strategic partnership in the sector, which will support clinical trials, and at the same time, they would review both the acceptance of medicines and the pricing.

Among the listed points a classified as difficulties also the health labor market situation, the extra profit tax, enforcement in public procurement and stricter regulations. They also want to change these.

The connection with hospital databases is also considered extremely important, since 1.5 million health data are generated every day with just 20 county hospitals, 94 percent of which are laboratory findings. I would like to achieve the unification of these data.

I would also like to make the family doctor’s basic cartons available in the EESZT. In addition to these, I also want artificial intelligence increasingly widely to be used, similar to the colon cancer screening pilot program that took place last six months.
